Mobile-Effects.com has planned something new and never done before to the carputing community. Next month, after we switch hosts, we are going to try offering Windows XP Embedded images for download through our site.
We are working hard on developing XPe images for hardware specific carputers. First up, will be images for Epias. We are currently working on Epia 800 mhz and Epia PD 1GHz images.
These images will be available for download, and we will need your help testing them, and giving us feedback so we can further develop them. Click 'Read More' for more information...
Details on this offer:
Images will be built using the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded toolkit. This toolkit is a free download from Microsoft. All images will have the 120 day timebomb built into them, which allows us to share them with you. After 120 days, the image will be rendered useless. You may be able to reload the image for another 120 days if you choose.
If you wish to purchase a license, you will have to contact your vendor, or research more on the license fees through Microsoft directly.
We will try to provide information on how to get the XPe images we offer here up and running on your own machine.
We will offer little to no support for our images and offer the downloads purely for educational purposes. We are going to be designing the builds for dual boot machines.
You have a couple weeks or so before we offer any downloads. If you are interested, we suggest you set up your machine now for the dual boot setup. You will need at least two partitions on your hard drive, or a second hard drive set up on your primary ide chain as slave.
We'll see how far this project goes, and how much interest there is in it. We really do not have the time to offer extensive support for this project. Please be willing to keep an open mind when testing these images, make sure to back up all your data, and share with us some feedback.
